Whitness is a classic-rock band which wanted to launch its cd online with a new website of its own. We developed a cutting-edge website to coincide with their musical style and worked closely with band members to sculpt the site to their image. The band wanted the ability to sell their products online and interest viewers in their music. They also wanted viewers to be able to preview their songs, but still give them a reason to buy their cd. Starstreak could deliver. With dynamic video content from their latest performance and song previews, anyone who visited their site would love their music. This page was redesigned in several different technologies before coming up with the piece you see before you. The current design features dynamic XML content and menus, with a flash interface and HTML content areas. The sublinks are stored in a list of flash information with automatically updating buttons with overmouse functionality. The site also contains a movie control box that allows viewers to watch recent clips of the band. On the right are three dynamic flash panels with contact information, concerts and recent news. All panes have scrollable functionality allowing an infinite amount of information to be passed to each. The meat and potatoes of the site is the middle pane which houses the content that is put up by whitness using their site editor. The top pane is done in flash with menu buttons with mouseover effects and an animated banner. We also added the option of putting in an advertisment pane over the banner that would come down randomly for periods of about 15 seconds or until the user closed it. This would allow promotion of the Whitness merchandise instantly.

This is a clear example of how flash can truly benefit a site. Above you can see the movie pane that is paused and the dynamic information panes. All of this was done using a PHP back-end and XML databases. The banner at the top is animated on the opening of the page as well as the buttons when you put your mouse over them. The content pane automatically resizes to hold the appropriate amount of information being sent to it and formats the text automatically.
